Working with children is the most rewarding profession for me. I enjoy working alongside children and supporting them to reach their full potential whilst maintaining their individuality, uniqueness and developing their independence. Having studied Early Childhood Care & Education for four years and receiving a B.A degree, it's clear to see how many benefits a quality early years service, like Little Learners can give to a child. I am a big supporter of the Ethos here at little Learners and will continue to include the arts, dance and music as part of a child's development. I am very proud to be part of such a fantastic team who work to not only support the children but their families too!'

Claire Staunton
Claire Staunton

After completing a degree in Music and English at St. Patrick’s College, Claire conducted her post-graduate studies at St. Nicholas Montessori College where she graduated with first class honours in Montessori Early Childhood Education. After teaching in Dublin for a couple of years, Claire moved to Myanmar to help establish a new preschool for Burmese children. The school was one of the first of its kind in Myanmar to embrace a child led, play based curriculum and Claire is very proud to have been part of this project. During her time abroad, Claire also regularly gave workshops and training to both Burmese and expat teachers working in the field of early education. On return to Ireland, Claire was delighted to find that Little Learners had an opening for a Montessori teacher and was even more delighted when Nessa hired her! "Little Learners allows to me to combine my love of the creative arts with my passion for working with young children using the Montessori method. I am a trained musical theatre performer and regularly draw on my theatrical training in the classroom by using role play, music, and drama to reinforce the children’s learning".

Michelle
Michelle

I have always wanted to work with young children. Initially I studied paediatric nursing, before realising education was where my passion is. I truly believe that early education lays a very important foundation for young children and feel privileged to be part of it. I love working with children to find their interest and what motivates them and planning a curriculum around this. I am also lucky enough to be able to share my love of the Irish language with the children I teach.Little Learners is the perfect balance of learning, fun and creativity and it is a pleasure to work as part of such an innovative team.

Katie
Katie

Little Learners gives me the platform that I have always wanted, to work with children in a fun, creative learning environment. I have 8 years’ experience as an early year’s educator, my passion for teaching children grows more every day. I have such enthusiasm and high energy, I use this skill in my teaching to bring out the best in children. I love how individual we are in little learners we stand out from all the rest. Pre-school is such an important aspect of a child’s life, that is why I thrive to make the experience enjoyable. I have the pleasure of watching children grow and develop as confident individuals in my care. I feel blessed to be apart of little learners and can truly say I love my job.

Luke
Luke

Luke is one of our preschool teachers in ABCD. “I decided long before I went to college I wanted to work with children. I've always had a passion for working with younger people and it's an area I was determined to get into later in life. I studied Deaf Studies in Trinity College, Dublin with that in mind. I knew having a degree in something so unique and in an area so specialized would help me achieve my aim. Having realized my goal of working with children in Little Learners I couldn't be happier. It's the ideal environment for me, one I consider myself very lucky to be in. I have a keen interest in sport and play for Na Fianna GAA. Something I share with many of the children who come to Little Learners. Being a part of the team in Little Learners and getting to work with a group as friendly and as special as the one we have now is a privileged position. Most of all, the children I encounter day in day out had reaffirmed my passion to continue to work with children and most of all to do so in Little learners”

Tina
Tina

Tina is our afterschool manager in ABCD. "I truly believe in the power of the arts, especially when working with children. When studying Drama and Performance I was pushed out of my comfort zone and thrust into the spotlight- quite literally! However when I graduated I was much more confident and most importantly I believed in myself. It is this confidence and belief that I hope to pass on to each and every child who attends my classes at Stay and Play. Having only been with Stay and Play for a little while and I can honestly say I absolutely love it! So far we’ve staged two magnificent shows and the only way is up. It is truly a privilege to get to know the children and observe them developing their own stage personas and presence. I believe the greatest tool we have in life is our voice and with that in mind I also believe that every child deserves the opportunity to use their voice both now and in the future with confidence and belief in themselves, and drama is a great gateway into doing so. They might be a bit too young to understand now but I hope someday in the future they too will understand the power of the arts in its many amazing forms!"

She had since completed her level 7 in Early Childhood Education. She loves how Montessori facilitates the child’s ability to develop and grow at their own pace, she believes that this opens the door for them to reach their full potential.

Nina
Nina

“I’ve always had an interest in working with children because I find they are very humorous and have an enthusiastic approach towards life. I try my best to match their energy and keep them occupied throughout each day. I love to make children smile, it makes me happy when I see them enjoying themselves and engaged in play without a care in the world. I studied early childhood care and education at Colaiste Ide Dublin and was eager to start working with children as soon as I graduated. I love the atmosphere here at Little Learners. When I first started working here, I felt at home straight away, as the whole team are very welcoming and it is a great environment to be a part of. I like how there’s extreme efforts put in to ensure that each individual child’s needs are met. I have a strong passion for arts and crafts and I love to implement this into activities with the children. I like the routine here as I have set activities which include ballet and yoga. I practiced ballet in ABCD myself when I was a child so It is great to be able to teach the children some of the skills I learned. It is wonderful how these activities impact on the children’s wellbeing and It is great to see them progressing and thriving in their activities”.

Kate
Kate

Kate is our preschool teacher in ABCD. "Working with young children and their families is a hugely rewarding career. It is a privilege to spend my day with our youngest most inspiring and engaging citizens. Encouraging children's interests and confidence through play and supportive relationships is central to my practice. Outdoor nature-based learning, art, culture, and science are areas that I particularly enjoy facilitating as part of our curriculum. Having come to the early years after over fifteen years in retail and design, I hold a BA in Early Years Education from NCI. I am currently studying to become a certified Forest School Leader".

Teresa
Teresa

Teresa is an Early Years Educator in our Iona school. "Working with children was always my passion that became my profession. I graduated with First Class Honour in BA in Early Childhood Education and I’m striving for the same in my current postgraduate course in MA in Child, Family and Community Studies. However my professional knowledge is not the only thing that matters to me as a teacher. Over the years of practice I came to conclusion that it is a love that helps children to open up and spread their wings. Therefore, in everyday practice I follow three important steps: I show children love and affection, I play with them and I educate them. I believe that it is a great success if I can make a young child willingly to follow me and learn new things that are interesting and challenging for him/her. I also like children to be creative, therefore, I follow their ideas and help them to learn this way. This makes the process of learning much more interesting for them and for me"

Sorcha

Saoirse is our Afterschool manager in Westfield House. "I have a bachelor’s degree in Social Care. While working through my degree I worked with children in many different areas. In 2012 I did my Erasmus in Oslo specialising in Creative methods in Childcare. I have just returned from Germany after four years spending my time using creative methods to teach English to children from 1 to 12 years. Since returning to Dublin and starting with Little Learners it’s been great. I can now use all my experience in art, music and drama and bring it to the creative space in Westfield. The forest school is a new concept, the children are curious and motivated which makes everything exciting and new for everyone. We can be creative with nature and use the outdoors as our canvass. I am loving all the challenges, meeting and working with a friendly and welcoming team. I can’t wait to see what the future brings"
